Raul Marquez

May 1, 1977 — February 25, 2025

Raul Marquez, a beloved son, devoted friend, and industrious spirit, was unexpectedly called to rest on February 25, 2025, in Artesia, New Mexico. Raul was born to Raul Ramon and Cecelia Rebecca on May 1, 1977, in Roswell, he was a true product of his hometown, embodying the warmth and determination that southwestern life instills.

Raul carved out a respected career as a truck driver, dedicating himself to various companies, including CRS and Mesilla Valley Transport, most recently serving the needs of Pro Petro. His skills extended beyond the driver's seat; Raul was also a talented diesel mechanic who took immense pride in his ability to repair and maintain the very machines that carried him across the roads he loved. His knack for taking things apart and attempting to put them back together illuminated his inquisitive nature and passion for mechanics.

Known for his hard work and unyielding dedication, Raul was not just a man of labor but a man of laughter. He found joy in life’s little moments, always ready to joke and share a laugh. Music moved him, and he embraced every chance to sing and dance, filling the air with positivity and cheer. Those privileged to know him will remember the warmth of his personality and the light he brought to their lives.

Raul's devotion to his family was limitless. He had an exceptional bond with his father, who could aptly describe him as not only a son but also a best friend. This deep connection reflected the love and respect he fostered within his close-knit family.

Raul is preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia Marquez; Grandmother, Rose Fierro; and two sisters, Lisa Herrera and Maria Vargas.

Those left to honor and cherish Raul’s memory are his daughters: Mariah Medrano of Midland, TX and Rebekah Marquez of Silver City, NM; One Grandchild; father, Raul R. Marquez; brothers, Alfonso Florez of Roswell, NM and Chris Florez of Oklahoma City, OK; and sister Liliana Marquez of El Paso, TX.

The pallbearers will be Alfonso Florez, Chris Florez, Juan Vasquez, Vany Nunez, Juan Landeros, Alfred Perches, Nathan Revira, and Ruben Villegas.

His loved ones invite friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Raul to gather and reminisce, share stories, and honor his memory. A viewing will be held at Ballard Chapel in Roswell on March 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at Ballard Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. A mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Catholic Church on March 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM, culminating in a graveside service at South Park Cemetery at 11:30 AM.

Though Raul may no longer walk among us, the indelible mark he left on our hearts will endure forever, a testament to a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and unwavering spirit. May he rest peacefully, surrounded by the joy he so generously shared with others.
