Randall William Eakens
Randall W. Eakens passed away unexpectedly in Houston, Texas on Thursday, March 29, 2007. Randy was born in Roswell, New Mexico, on February 5, 1951, where he spent his youth. He graduated from Roswell High School in 1969. While at Roswell High, Randy received many honors, including: Most Handsome, Roswell High School Hall of Fame, and New Mexico State Student Governor.
Randy received A Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington, and went on to become a respected member of the oil and gas industry. His work allowed him to travel extensively and to live in New York City, San Francisco, and Houston.
After retiring from his professional life, Randy devoted himself to volunteer work. In addition to volunteering at the Houston Public Library and at various hospitals and hospices, he became very involved in assisting Hurricane Katrina victims who were given refuge in Houston. His kind and caring nature endeared him to everyone he met.
Randy will be terribly missed by his many friends and his family. He was preceded in death by both his mother, Louise Sterrett Eakens, and his father, Kenneth U. Eakens. He is survived by his twin brother, Rick Eakens, his sister, Cindy Eakens Guy, his brother-in-law, Bill Guy, and his beloved nieces, Jennifer Guy Davis and Sara Eakens. Randy also leaves behind many dear friends.
Internment was at South Park Cemetery following a graveside memorial service on Tuesday, April 3. Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
