Ramona Medina

Ramona "Margie" Medina, 64, of Roswell, NM went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from natural causes.

A rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m., and a reception to follow in the St. Peter's Library.

Margie was born in Roswell, New Mexico to Manuel and Irene Otero on January 27, 1954. Margie married the love of her life "Johnny" Medina in 1973. They celebrated 44 years of wonderful marriage.

Margie enjoyed playing Bingo at the Elks Lodge, Serenity and Sertoma Club. Her most prized possession was her two grandchildren Nessa and Junior Bug. Anytime they came over for a visit, her eyes would light up and she would have a smile on her face that would last for days. Both Margie and Johnny enjoyed hosting backyard barbeques for their family and friends.

Margie was employed with the Roswell Independent School District in the food service department for 19 years before gaining early retirement.

Margie is survived by her son, Ernest Medina of Roswell, NM; son-in-law and compadre Steve and Evette Contreras, Sr. of Roswell, NM; grandchildren Vanessa and Steve Contreras, Jr. both from Roswell, NM; sister Christine and Mike Garcia of Roswell, NM; brother Manuel and Lola Otero of LaMesa, CA; two sisters-in-law Margaret Maez of Alamogordo, NM and Elaine Young of Albuquerque, NM, cousins Lena Connell, Susie Connell and Dorris Vallejos of Roswell, NM, Debbie Connell of Alamogordo, NM and Randy Connell of McAllen, TX and Aunt Bessie Aragon of McAllen, TX. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and God-children throughout New Mexico.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband Alfred "Johnny" Medina; daughter Brenda Contreras; sisters Isabel "Shady" Torres, Sissy Lucero, Kathy Garcia and Yolanda Otero and brother Orlando Otero, all of Roswell, NM.

Honorary pallbearers are Steve Contreras, Vanessa Contreras, Susie Connell, and Lena Rene Vallejos.
