Placido Chavez

A rosary is scheduled for 7 pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Jude Catholic Church in San Patricio, NM for Placido Chavez, 76, who passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 in Albuquerque, NM. Mass is scheduled for 9:30 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2013 also at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Alfred Galvan of St. Eleanor Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hondo Cemetery.

Placido was born February 14, 1937 in Lincoln, NM to Evangelisto Chavez and Leonor Pea. His parents preceded him in death. Placido is also preceded in death by his wife Jeanette Needham Chavez, brother, Juan P. Chavez, sisters, Angelita Sanchez and Rachel Salas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Vickie Hatcher, Patricia Badgery, Elizabeth Gonzalez and Kristina Chavez brothers, Max P. Chavez and Albert Chavez sisters, Geneva Needham, Josie Granados and husband Louis, Frances Gustamantes and husband Richard eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Placido lived in Roswell for the past 30 years coming from Hondo, NM. He was a retired plumber. Placido enjoyed whittling and riding horses. He loved his Miller High Life, gardening, growing veggies and roasting chili.

Serving as pallbearers will be Albert Chavez, Frank Chavez, Edward Gustamantes, Patrick Hatcher, Donald Gonzales and Johnny Needham. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
