Pilar J. Harris

A vigil with rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Assumption Catholic Church for Pilar J. Harris, 75, of Roswell who passed away November 1, 2009 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. A funeral mass is scheduled for 12:10 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2009 at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Pilar was born on June 15, 1934 in Grants, New Mexico to Abenicio Baca and Rosa Lopez Baca. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as a great, great granddaughter, Ellianna Nevaeh Harris and a great, great grandson, Eugene Joseph Harris.

Pilar married Robert Dennis Harris Sr. on April 10, 1952 in Las Vega, Nevada. Her husband survives her at the family home.

Pilar is also survived by her sons: Robert D. Harris Jr. and his wife Ida of Ruidoso, NM, Albert A. Harris Sr. and his wife Belinda of Carlsbad, NM, Raymond Harris Sr. and his wife Stella of Capitan, NM, Tracy G. Harris and his wife Jude of Roswell and Arthur L. Harris of Roswell, Gabriel R. Harris; her daughters: Josie Mae Carson and her husband Chris of Roswell and Pilar Jannie Harris of Capitan, NM; as well as 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and two on the way.

Pilar has lived in Roswell since 1970 coming from San Fidel, NM. She was a homemaker and a member of Assumption Catholic Church. Pilar loved to bake, cook and watch her church on T.V as well as spending time with her grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Harris, Gabriel Harris, Raymond Harris Jr., Tim Harris, Albert Harris Jr., Dustin Harris, Westley Harris, Daniel Harris, Jerome Mendoza and Kyle Harris and alternate pallbearer will be Chris Harris.
