Pierre Monte' Brown was born on March 22, 1970, in Seattle, Washington, to Betty J. Watley. The youngest of four children, and the only boy, he began a life surrounded by strong women which would serve him well in the future as the humble and loving man we all came to know and love.
In 1988, Pierre graduated from Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, WA. In October of that year, he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he remained an active member throughout his life. Pierre married Alena Hoffman on November 1, 1997, in Seattle, WA.
They welcomed three daughters, Raquel, Chantel, and Joelle, and in April of 2020, they were blessed with their first grandchild, Sasha Grace, whose first words included “Grandpa.”Although their marriage ended in 2018, their friendship and mutual respect for each other remained which strengthened their new family dynamic. Pierre adored his daughters and granddaughter, which he spoke about all the time. If you knew Pierre, you knew how much he loved his girls.
Pierre worked as a Photo and Electronics Specialist at Walmart for nearly 20 years. His love of photography and music made it the perfect fit. For those who had the pleasure of working with him they will never forget his kindness, professionalism, work-ethic, sense of humor, and love for those around him. Aside from being a great co-worker, he was a mentor, friend, and all-around great guy who will be missed tremendously, but never forgotten.Pierre’s love of music spanned his entire life, and he shared that love with everyone he knew. Whether it was the disco ball hanging from his ceiling, CDs, expansive vinyl collection, or his 50-hour playlist, you knew that music was a part of who he was. If he was the DJ for a church dance, you could be sure the place would be full of happy people dancing the night away.
Pierre also had a keen eye for photography, and it showed in the many pictures he took. While living in Seattle, it became a tradition to watch the Blue Angels at the annual Seafair Festival, and it became a challenge for him to take better pictures every year. Whether it was airplanes, people or scenic shots, his eye for detail showed in every picture. Pierre passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at the age of 54, surrounded by his loving family.
Remaining to cherish Pierre’s memory are his children; Raquel, Chantel, and Joelle Brown; granddaughter Sasha Grace; sisters Pam Watley , Penelope Ervin, and Paula Woods; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
Pierre is preceded in death by his mother, Betty J. Watley, Uncle Sam Watley; Aunt Sadie Watley and Godmother Betty Berry.
We will celebrate Pierre's life with a Memorial Service and Reception on March 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 2201 W Country Club Rd, Roswell, NM 88201.
