Our Mother, Pearl, was born on June 25, 1938 in Reader AR to Joe and Melissa Bland and went to be with her Lord on January 13, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank Moser; her sister, Artie Baysinger; her son-in-law, Ron; her grandson, Jonathan; her great-grandson, Nathan; her granddaughter, Vanessa.
Pearl lived in Lovington, NM at the time of her death. She is survived by two daughters, Paula Medeck, of Garden Grove, California; Peggy Hughes of Lovington; three sons, Henry Hughes (Debbie) of Hobbs, NM; Clifford Mark Hughes (Kathy) of Cache, OK; James Hughes (Angy) of Firestone, CO; one brother, John Bland; two sisters, Maxine Dennis and Marilyn Hatfield; along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
Mom had worked for several restaurants in Lovington, like the Western Pit and Grill and Lovington Inn and was a wonderful cook. Mom loved spending time with her family and loved her grandchildren. She loved reading her bible daily, might not remember what she read, as she grew older, but was a faithful servant. Mom spent hours crocheting for local nursing home lap throws which she donated with a kind heart. Mom was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing, several occasions she made clothes for her nieces. Diana, her niece, remembers fondly some dresses for her and her sisters, that Mother sewed for them. Precious memories of pictures that were taken of these three girls in their new dresses. Mom and Dad took beef to their home when they butchered a calf. Another memorable episode was when she stopped driving (thankfully) after she was involved in a minor fender bender. Our cousin, Cedie, told me about the time our mother was helping our dad work on her mother’s car and Dad slammed the hood on Mom’s hand and she gave him a cussing. (I suppose that is where my brothers learned to cuss).
Our mother and the grandchildren’s, Granny was a loving person if you call (‘if you don’t stop crying, I will give you something to cry about’) a loving mother. She will be dearly missed each and every day. Mom was an exceptional cook and prepared many home-made meals. Some of my fondest memories of her meals were her home-made flour tortillas, chocolate pie, peach cobbler and in general good home cooking. Pearl was known to many in Lovington as the cook at the Western Pit and Grill and Lovington Inn. She was an exceptional cook and many in Lovington, NM may not have known her, but many have eaten what she prepared.
Mom, may you rest in peace you good and faithful servant. Our Mom will be laid to rest in Roswell, NM; alongside her faithful and loving husband, Frank.
