A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 P.M., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Ballard Funeral Home
Chapel for Paul Henry Schnucker,79, who passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at home. Pastor Jerry Chaves of Christs Church will officiate. Veteran services will be conducted by the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard.
Paul was born January 10, 1935 in Waterloo, Iowa to Felix Victor Schnucker and Josephine Maaseam
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kay of the family home sons Paul Mark Schnucker and wife Maria, David Allen and wife Laura daughter Deborah Hill and her husband Hayden brother Robert Schnucker and wife Anna Mae sister Emma Jo Uban and grandchildren Brittany Walden and husband Mark Joshua Hill and wife Esther, Andrew, Lauren, Brooke, Serena Hill, Camille Schnucker , Christian, Elisha, and Abigail Schnucker
Paul enlisted in the Air Force in 1954 and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in 1956. He came to Walker Air Force Base where he flew as a navigator bombardier in B36s and B52s. He met his wife Kay while stationed at Walker AFB. In 1961 he went to Reese Air Force Base for pilot training, and then to Stead Air Force Base for helicopter training. His foreign service includes Okinawa, Germany and two tours in Vietnam. He received numerous awards and decorations, some of which include the Distinguised Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters. Additionally he received U.S. Army Pilot wings and Vietnamese Pilot wings. He retired at Whitman Air Force Base in Missouri in 1978 as a Lt. Colonel.
He was a member of the Roswell Honor Guard and Viet Nam Veterans of America.
