Patricia McCullough Jackson
Patricia Gail Jackson, born May 1, 1953 in Roswell, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Eastern NM Medical Center, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd McCullough and Vivian Derrick McCullough.
Patricia and the late Dexter Jackson were married in Alamogordo, NM on September 22, 1981. Patricia is survived by a daughter, Mary Jackson, and a son, Robert Jackson, granddaughters Mariah and Aliyah Flores, and grandson Alexander Flores, all of Roswell.
Patricia graduated from Goddard High School before attending New Mexico State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She continued her education at Eastern NM University, earning a Master's degree in Special Education in 1993. Patricia was certified in Early Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education. She taught in the Roswell School District for 6 years as a Resource Room Teacher and 19 years as a Special Education/Early Childhood Teacher until her retirement in 2012. She was a gifted teacher with the majority of her career focused on helping special needs children.
When she was young, Patricia loved horses, and rode every chance she could. In later years she was an avid reader and collector of books. Spending time with her family and friends was a great joy to Patricia.
Patricia is also survived by brothers John McCullough and his wife Valerie of Alto NM, and Kenneth McCullough and his wife Theresa of Albuquerque, and sister Debbie McCullough and partner Danny Waggoner of Albuquerque. She also leaves behind nieces Erin McCullough and husband Scott Schneider, Amie Carroll and husband Tim, Kathleen Bruton and husband Brian, Jacqui Waggoner and partner Benito Villanueva, all of Albuquerque, Angela Rodriguez and husband Jesse of Roswell, and LeAnne McCullough of Phoenix, AZ. Patricia's nephews are John McCullough, Jr., Timmothy McCullough, and Anthony Cobos, all of Albuquerque.
Patricia maintained a close relationship with her cousins Barbara Harrell and Lois Harshey. In addition, past co-workers who became very dear friends were Diane Dodson and Marsha Kirkham.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Friday, January 29 at Ballard Funeral Home.
