Olympia Romero

A rosary vigil is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lake Arthur for Olympia Romero 95, who passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 at Sunset Villa Care Center. Funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lake Arthur. Father Brian Guerrini will officiate. Burial will follow at Lake Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the church.

Olympia was born December 27, 1915 in San Ignacio, NM to Benigno and Domitila Segura Gonzales. Her parents preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband Eligio Romero, daughter Lucille Romero, three brothers Arturo, Benny and Antonio Gonzales and two great grandchildren.

Olympia is survived by her sons Ignacio Romero and wife Sandy of Lake Arthur, NM and Joe Romero and wife Elizabeth of Topeka, KS daughters Maria Peralta and husband Ray of Hagerman, NM, Tilia Leal and husband Robert of Roswell, NM and Lupe Cota and husband Fred of Portales, NM niece Mary Campos and grandson Mario Romero who took care of her, twentyseven grandchildren fortyseven great grandchildren six greatgreat grandchildren and her little dog Fido.

Olympia lived in Lake Arthur for sixty years before moving to Hagerman a short time ago. She loved to cook for her family and friends and to have her grandchildren around her.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sunset Villa for their care of Mrs. Romero.

Pallbearers will be Chris Peralta, Bernie Romero, Robert Leal Jr., Eric Leal, David Romero and Cedric Cota. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
