Olga R. Parker
Olga R. Parker, 75 of Las Cruces entered eternal life on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. She was born March 20, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. Her husband of 47 years Clyde R. Parker preceded her in death, as well as her sons Bruce Parker and Edward Parker and her daughter Carol Parker, by her parents Ramon and Caroline Roman of Brooklyn, NY, brotherinlaw Jack S. Wharton of Las CrucesRuidoso, NM, and niece Donna P. Welborn of Las Cruces.
She is survived by her sister Irene Wharton of Las Cruces, her nephew Jay Moccio and spouse of Visalia, CA niece Dawn Machado and spouse of Lemoore, CA, and 3 grandnieces, Brittany Brown and Brooke Sterrett of Visalia, CA and Kirsten Welborn and grandnephew Jaden of Ruidoso, NM, as well as 3 grandnephews, Chad Mendes of Sacramento, CA, Cory Welborn and Derek Welborn of Ruidoso, NM. She is also survived by numerous Parker family members including inlaws, nieces and nephews.
Olga served 3 years in the US Army from 19551958. While she was stationed in Japan, she was a member of the WAC baseball team and successfully climbed Mt Fuji twice during her tour of duty at Camp Zama, Japan. She met her husband Clyde of Damascus, VA while she was stationed at Ft Monroe, VA and spent many happy years fishing and hunting with her husband and children until their demise. She was also an avid league bowler in her earlier years. She relocated to Las Cruces in Feb 2009 from Roswell where she and her husband lived for 10 years prior to his death. Her soft spoken demeanor and shy, gentle spirit will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. Rest easy dear sister, you are finally home.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11:30 am, Friday, March 8, 2013 at Ballard Chapel with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.
