Norma D. "Doy" Owen passed away in her home on December 22, 2015 at the age of 75. She was born September 9, 1940 to John W. and Letha P. Long Midway, NM on her family's property, she attended Dexter Public Schools. In 1955 she met her teenage sweetheart, Charles B. Owen. They were married on February 13, 1957, and then on February 27, 1958 their beloved son Carl Wesley Owen was born.
They bought their property in the Berrendo area where they built their home, where they made a very happy life together and called home for the remainder of their lives.
Norma worked in the natural gas distribution industry for 34 years. In 2003, she retired from PNM Gas Services in the positon of administration. After retirement she and Charlie enjoyed quality time among the 95 trees of their small pecan orchard. Norma continued to love and care for their pecan orchard after Charlie's death in October 2012.
Norma was a sweet hearted soul; she will be forever loved and missed by all us who cared for her. We offer a special thank you to you the Gentiva Hospice Group.
Norma is survived by her cousin, Cathy and Larry Chapman, her unofficial adopted children, John F. and Roberta T. Arnold, special friends, Herb and Leandra Finney, Betty Cullen, Tammy Oldfield, Robin Theobald and her many wonderful neighbors.
Norma was preceded in death by beloved Charlie Owen, their son, Carl Wesley Owen, both of her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 pm, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at South Park Cemetery, where she will forever rest beside her beloved husband and son. Visitation is will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 8 to 5 pm at Ballard Funeral Home.
