A memorial service is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Natividad L. Olivas, 55 of Roswell, who passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2009 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Fr. Juan Montoya O.F.M. of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. The family will be receiving visitors at 1107 W. 14th St.

Natividad was born on April 1, 1953 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Pedro Olivas and Ladislada Loya Olivas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Pedro and Julian; a sister, Carmela; and one grandchild, Gabriela.

On April 21, 1982 he married Mona Garcia in Carlsbad, NM. They shared 31 years of companionship. She survives him at the family home.

Natividad was known to his friends as Curly or Borrego.He was a joker with a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He always greeted you with a smile and a funny story. He was a plumber by trade and a very hard worker. He was a great dancer. One of his greatest joys was riding his motorcycle. He loved his children and adored his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is also survived by his sons: Paco Olivas and wife Nora of Chihuahua, Mexico and Milo Garcia of Roswell; his daughters: Yvette Sanchez of Roswell, Naomi Tafoya and husband Matt of Espanola and Elizabeth Arias of Roswell; his brothers: Jose, Hector , and Oscar; his sisters: Adela, Angelica, Ines, Esperanza, Emma and Consuelo; his grandchildren: Sam, Larry, Moni, Melissa, Fabion, Santana, Issiah, Matthew, JoJo, Liani and Ricky; his great grandchildren: Bianca, Anissah and Yesenia.
