Mrs. Myrtie Waterfield, age 92, passed away on November 27, 2016 in Roswell New Mexico following a steady decline in health.
Myrtie was born in Sextonville, Wisconsin on March 27, 1924 to Roy and Daisy Gray. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lineva and Gordon Pinkston and two granddaughters Robin Stephens and Kyla Philpott. She is also survived by three great grandchildren Kinsey, Zachary and Mitchell; brother Gus Gray; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard; son Robert; two brothers and a sister.
Due to her father's health, the family moved from Wisconsin to northern New Mexico. She spent the majority of her childhood in the Cimmaron, New Mexico area. She attended Hotel Dieu Sisters' Hospital School of Nursing in El Paso, Texas and received her nursing degree on February 2, 1947. She began her career as a registered nurse and moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico where she met her husband Howard. On April 20, 1949, they were married and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Roswell, New Mexico to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 3, 2016 at Ballard Funeral Home at 10am.
