Mildred Walton

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, May 16 at 10:00 AM at South Park Cemetery for Mildred Mamie Walton, 94, of Visalia, CA, where she has lived since June 2010, died of natural causes on May 7th, 2014. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Ballard Funeral Home.

Mildred was born on December 21, 1919 in McCalester, OK and resided most of her life in Roswell, NM.

Mildred is survived by her daughters Vickie Wilbanks of Moore, OK and Carol Rankin of Visalia, CA grandchildren Kelly Strange, Lesley Singleton and Brock Starnes children of Linda and Frank Starns Michael Wilbanks, Angela Ballard and Jennifer Brockman children of Joe and Vickie Wilbanks Tate Rankin child of Carol and Jay Rankin. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Twice widowed her first husband and father of three children, Melvin E. Lorton died in 1978. Her second husband Ralph Walton preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her first born daughter Linda Ruth Smith of Roswell, New Mexico in 2010 as well as two sisters Hallie Roberts and Frances brothers Lloyd, Jim and Harold Willingham.

Mildred was a member of the Nazarene Church all of her life and loved to play guitar and sing. Music was always her joy in life. She loved Gospel, Country and wrote her own music as well. In her youth, Mildred sang on the radio and won awards for her song writing.
