Michael Byrd

A memorial service for Michael Douglas Byrd, 61, will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel. Michael passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 in Roswell, NM.

Michael was born August 15, 1954 to Betty Dell Winstead and Bob H. Byrd.

Mike spent his younger years in Roswell, NM while spending sometime at the Vaughn ranch. He attended high school and college at NMMI and finished up his college education in Dallas, Texas. He was employed at NM Department of Health and Scientific Lab Division in Albuquerque, NM prior to his retirement. For several years Mike and his family lived in Dallas, Texas and then moved to Albuquerque, NM where he lived until his retirement and then moved to the ranch in Corona, NM. Mike loved watching his boys play sports, never missed a game while they were playing at Hope High School in Albuquerque. He also enjoyed coaching some Little League teams. Mike's spare time was spent working on his vehicles; he had a love for making them loud and fast.

Michael is survived by his son, Colin Byrd; his brother Bob H. Byrd, Jr. and wife Denise of Corona, NM; sister-in-law Judy Byrd of Vaughn, NM; nephews Robbie Byrd and wife Margaret of Amarillo, TX; Jason Byrd and wife Sarah and daughter Bree of San Antonio, TX; nieces Shannon Lightfoot and her husband Cody and son Hadley of Corona, NM; Candice Roberts and her husband Rusty and children Boone, Cooper and Jacey of Clovis, NM; and aunt Nancy Thompson of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by numerous cousins from New Mexico and Texas and his ex-wife Martha McNally Robinson of Albuquerque, NM.

Preceded in death by his son Christopher Byrd; mother Betty Dell Winstead; father Bob H. Byrd, Sr.; and brother Richard Allan Byrd.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jim Stokes, Ronnie Adams, Greg Robinson, Randy Gibson, Charles Koslowsky and Doug Hariss.
