Mercedes Borunda

A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Mercedes Borunda, 68, of Roswell who passed away April 2, 2008 at her home. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Montoya, O.F.M. of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Mercedes was born on July 22, 1939 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Angel Hernandez and Rafaela Hernandez. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as Trinidad Borunda, Mario Alberto Borunda, Maria De Carmen Borunda, Cuco Borunda, Cornelio Borunda, Octaviano Talamants Jr., Guadalupe Hernandez and Jesusita Hernandez.

Mercedes married Raul Borunda and were married for 50 years. He survives her at the family home.

Mercedes is survived by her sons and daughters: Maria Talamantes and her husband Octaviano, Juan Borunda and fianc Lucy Villalobos, Bertha Talamantes and husband Gonzalo, Rosendo Borunda and wife Socorro, Carlos Borunda and wife Lorena, Rigoberto Borunda and wife Rocio, Raul Borunda Jr., Armando Borunda, Jorge Borunda, Anabel Borunda and fianc Dominic Sanchez; her grandchildren: Angela Talamantes and fianc Eric Montes, Steven Talamantes, Alyssa Talamantes, Juan Borunda Jr., Miguel Borunda, Beto Borunda, Gonzalo Talamantes Jr., Jesus Talamantes and fianc Vanessa Avila, Jenny Yate and husband Joey, Eden Borunda, Carlos Diego Borunda, Naomi Borunda, Kareli Borunda, Michael Archuleta, Kyra Franco, Adriana Borunda, Mireya Borunda, Rigoberto Borunda Jr., Raul Borunda II, Mercedes Borunda, Dominic Sanchez Jr., Angel Borunda, Brenda Borunda, Armando Borunda Jr. and Vanessa Borunda; her brothers: Candelario Hernandez and wife Emilia, Estella Hernandez and Angel Hernandez and wife Modesta; her sister: Senaida Hernandez and husband Ramon and Esiquiel Hernandez.

Mercedes was of the Catholic Faith and attended St. Johns Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and Honorary will be all of the Sons.
