Mauricia Ortiz

A rosary is scheduled for 6:00 P.M., Sunday, September 14, 2014 at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Hagerman, NM for Mauricia De La Rosa Ortiz, 98, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Mission Arch Care Center. Funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 15, 2014 also at St. Catherines Catholic Church with Father Martin Cornejo of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Artesia officiating. Burial will follow at Hagerman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ruben De La Rosa, Johnny De La Rosa, Fred Balencia, Steven Balencia, Jeremy De La Rosa, and Jose Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mauricia was born December 20, 1915 in San Angelo, TX to Felipe De La Rosa and Paula Chavez. Her parents preceded her in death as well as her husband Serapio Ortiz. Also preceding her in death are brothers Octavio De La Rosa, Natividad De La Rosa, Martin De La Rosa, Andres De La Rosa, Fidel De La Rosa, sisters Leonor Gomez, Maria Castaneda, Victorina Munoz, Manuela De La Rosa, Elisa Orquiz, and Rosa De La Rosa.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Martha Ortiz and Olivia Carrasco and husband Joe son Pedro Ortiz sister Esther Jaquez 11 grandchildren numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mauricia had many hobbies during her lifetime. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Mauricia was a life long member of St. Catherines Catholic Church. She devoted much of her life to caring for others.

The family would like to thank her two nieces Gloria and Lucy and husband Raymond and grandson Jacob for all they have done and for constantly visiting her Mr. and Mrs. Miramontes, Mr. and Mrs. Morales, Maria Aguilar and son Linda Carrasco, Pamela Gonzales, Gloria Bejarano and all the staff at Mission Arch Care Center especially Jennifer, Jodie and Mr. Joe.
