MATTHEW CHRISTOPHER RUSSELL


Services are scheduled for 12:10pm, Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Assumption Catholic Church for Matthew Christopher Russell who passed away Monday, August 15, 2011 in Roswell. Father Bill McCann of Assumption Catholic Church will be officiating.

Matthew was born in Roswell on October 30, 1995 to Gregory and Susan Russell. He attended St. Andrews Preschool, Washington Avenue Elementary School, Sierra Middle School and Roswell High School. Matthew was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church. He enjoyed being outdoors and especially traveling with his friend, Austin White on their adventurous trips. He especially enjoyed his brother Michaels dog Klaus and Sox the family cat. Matthew was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He was a kind, sweet, sensitive soul and a true gift of God. He always looked for the good in other people and reached out to those less fortunate than himself. His family and friends will miss him tremendously and all the joy and love he brought into their lives. You will always be in our hearts and we will love you forever.

His parents, his sister Jennifer and his brother Michael survive Matthew. His aunt Patricia Greenwade and her friend Riley Armstrong cousins Russell Thompson, his wife Erin and their child Gracie John David Thompson, his wife Amanda and their children Kenzie and Jackson also survive him as well as his aunt Sharon Russell, cousins Jeff Weathers, his wife Laura and their children Lane and Bailey and Jon Weathers. Uncle Gary Gunderson, and cousins, Lisa Baker, Lori Kiser and Greg Gunderson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John F. and Doris Russell, O.L. Red and Helen Martin, his uncle and godfather John F. Russell II, and uncle Bernie Greenwade.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions may be made to the Matthew Russell Memorial Fund at Pioneer Bank or to the Community Foundation of Chaves County Angel Fund.
