Mary Ann Valdez
Mary Ann Valdez went home to her glory on December 10, 2009. She was born in Anadarko, OK on January 20, 1938 to Apolonaria Ceniseros and Ysaias Galvan who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Robert R. Valdez, on October 19, 1957.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her only son Thomas Valdez, daughters: Roberta Valdez and Adriene Gallegos and her husband Erik: grandchildren Ysaias Valdez, Charity Czechorski, their mother Joy Lee Storms, Ysabela Gallegos, Catalina Gallegos and Marco Antonio Gallegos and great-grandchildren Samara and Emery Czechorski. She is also survived by her brother Julius Galvan, sisters: Pauline Morro, Louise Morales, Patricia Sedillo, and Caroline Galvan. Several nieces and nephews who loved her like a mother. Brothers-in-law: George Valdez and his wife Rita, Jimmy Valdez and his wife Loy. Sisters-in-law: Aurelia Gonzales and Florence Valdez. She had several dear friends she held close to heart, especially Stella Ortiz, her maid of honor at her wedding and 50th anniversary, Nancy Garcia, Annette Trujillo and many other countless beautiful women with whom she surrounded herself.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Galvan and sisters, Suzy Olsen, Beatrice Rogers, Edna Galvan and Gloria Alvarez, brothers-in-law, Richard and Lolly, sisters-in-laws Mary Tellez and Frances Nunez.
Mary worked for years and years at Valdez Caf with her in-laws Ramon and Carolina Valdez. It was there that Mary developed her love for cooking. Mary and Bobby owned and operated Valdez Mexican Restaurant, and she was well known and loved for her cooking, especially her award-winning sopaipillas and beautiful chili rellenos Giselle and Jody, just call Tom. He learned from the best And who could forget Marys chili con queso Tish, our heart goes out to you
She was very active in the community and volunteered with many organizations, including St. Peterss Community Kitchen, St. Johns Catholic Church, where she taught Catechism Classes, The Salvation Army, Roswell Hispano Chamber, Roswell Welcoming Committee and the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She was a faithful blood donor for many years. She was a true and faithful servant to the Lord, and she is now home.
We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and caregivers who treated our Mom with loving care, including Dr. Bolanos, Dr. Khorsand, Dr. Wenner, Dr. Witwam, Dr. Chechani, the staff at Cancer Center and Phil, Rhianna and Janelle at Las Palomas in Albuquerque.
Services will be under the direction of Raymond Otero at Ballard Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 2009. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009. Following interment at South Park Cemetery, a reception will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 3201 South Sunset.
Pallbearers will be Ysai Valdez, Albert Aragon, J.R. Torres, Roy Morales, Gabriel Morro and George Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Fuentes, Eddie Richardson and Louis Valdez.
Please carry on our Mothers memory by donating your time and loving heart to any of the wonderful organizations in need of help, especially in those in her beloved city of Roswell.
