Mary was born on March 5, 1923 in Dublin, Ireland, to Patrick Carney and Constance Carney nee Grace. Mary left Ireland as a young woman to stay with the Moynahan family in New York and later married Brendan Moynahan, an elder brother of Father Kevin Moynahan. Mary worked in the British Consulate in Manhattan and on retirement moved to Long Island. After Father Kevin moved to Roswell he was joined here by his sister Kathleen, his brother Erill, and, sixteen years ago, by Mary and Brendan. They made many friends and after Brendans death Mary continued to value their friendship and support. She was a great animal lover and devoted to all her dogs. She liked to read the novels of Maeve Binchy. In earlier times she enjoyed watching and betting on horse racing. She knew how to read the form and was a very good judge of blood stock.
Mary is survived by her nephews: Paul Carney and Tim Moynahan; her grand-nephews: Jonathan, Julian and Philip Carney; her grand-niece: Rosalind Carney; and by relatives in San Francisco, New York, and Ireland.
