Mary Louetta Cullender Irvin was born May 19, 1939 to Mike Cullender and Ruth Wells Cullender in Roswell, New Mexico. She passed away December 11, 2020 peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones after a bout with Leukemia. She was 81 years old.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Terry Cullender and her grandson Michael Smith, and great granddaughters Kylie Shea and Kyra Kay Smith. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Kenneth Irvin, her daughters Susan Irvin Rodriguez and Kim Irvin Randle, her granddaughters Myranda, Ashley and Cassie and great grandchildren Brando, Jakup, Zia, Bexley, Brody and Leiyo, and her brother Alan Dunn.
Mary grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Hillcrest High School, in 1957. She met the love of her life shortly after graduation, got married after a two-week courtship and made her home in her birthplace, Roswell, New Mexico.
Mary worked as a bookkeeper and Income Tax Preparer. She touched many lives throughout hers. She was a fun- loving person and she loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She placed a high priority on supporting her daughters, and grandchildren in their endeavors.
Mary bowled on leagues and served as the president of the Extension Club for several years. She was very spontaneous and was always ready for an adventure, she loved to dance. She was married to a horseman and produced rodeo queens, cowgirls and cowboys, but she was very much a city girl. She loved being in her birth- place and enjoyed time with her cousins and made many friends over her lifetime.
Mary was a fighter and she fought to live until very end. She loved Christmas and was busy getting the presents wrapped just days before she left us. With deep sadness we say goodbye to Mary as she leaves this earth to go on to her ultimate resting place; wife, mother, grandmother and friend, you will be missed greatly.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Midway Assembly of God Church.
