Mary Catano

April 25, 1918 — October 24, 2007

Mary Catano has gone to take her place in the Heavenly Mansion promised to us by our Lord. She passed away at ENMMC Wednesday, October 24, 2007.

Mary will be remembered by her many, many friends and family for her loving caring ways. She was always there for those less fortunate, those in nursing homes, and for those homebound and handicapped. She was there for the immigrants and was the first to offer them a place to stay. In 1989 she was honored by R.S.V.P for having volunteered and worked one thousand nine hundred and sixty seven hours. She gave her time at the Community Kitchen, the Hospitals and the Nursing Homes. In addition to this she always visited the sick at home and or called to check on them.

When St. Peter and St. John Churchs had convents, you would see Mary with the Nuns taking them to appointments, or wherever they needed to be. Through the years she has been there in one way or another for the Sisters at the Poor Clares Monastery here in Roswell.

Mary was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was very faithful to her church Community. She was active in the Cursillo Movement, the Guadalupanas, the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother. She will be missed dearly by many.

Mary was born in Roswell April 25, 1918, to Mike Gonzales and Esperanza Villarreal Gonzales. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Albert Catano, by a brother Maurice Gonzales and a sister Jessie Kamees.

She is survived by her sons: Daniel Catano and Febe, Maurice Catano and Kathy Fuller her Daughter Lupe and Charlie Gomez, Grandchildren Arthur Catano and Lisa, Sally C. Ortiz and Gil, Charles Gomez Jr. Daniel Gomez and Mary, Great Grandchildren Albert Gomez, Ashley Gomez, Margaux Ortiz. Two special nieces Martha K. Romero, Espe Velasquez a lifelong friend Jean Vigil, many wonderful nephews and nieces and her two bed buddies and companions her Chihuahuas Wendy and Max.

Juan Montoya, O.F.M. at St. Johns Catholic Church. A celebration of her life reception will follow at the Ave Maria Center, 401 E. Bland.

The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Poor Clare Monastery or St. John Church.
