Mary Brooks

Mary B. Brooks was born in Stringtown, Oklahoma on August 16, 1929. She entered Heavens gates on October 27, 2014.

A loving MotherGrandmotherSisterWife, family owned grocery store proprietor, chef and homemaker. Mary was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she volunteered for the Soup Kitchen and fostered many children. She also loved to play bingo, occasionally visit the casino, read, crossword puzzles, quilting, crochet, canning, entering food and crafts in ENMUR fair and visit with her family and friends. She was also a Life Time Member and former President of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, a member of the Senior Circle ENMMC Chapter and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mary had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of the New Covenant Church of God. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous fundraising events.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Johnny D. Brooks. She was also predeceased by her mother and father Elizabeth Cramer and John Burrough, three daughters Dyanne Brooks, Donna Brooks and Grace Garcia, one son John Brooks, two sisters Ola Mae Mahan and Dorothy Jean Weaver. Mary is survived by one sister Sarah Ruth Brooks and five daughters. Daughter Joyce Goddant Brooks of Pecos, NM and children John, Joy, and Cinder Urban Levendoki of Roswell, NM with 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, daughter Lois Bender and husband James of Tunnel Hill, GA children Rick, Denise and Shelia Bender 15 grandchildren, and 1 greatgrandchild, daughter Linda Zinn Brooks of Lubbock, TX, son Joseph Brooks and 3 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren, daughter Ruth Lott and husband Carl of Albuquerque, NM children Tessa and Carl Lott and 3 grandchildren, daughter Mary Click and husband Mickey of Roswell, NM, children Micheala and Micah Click, grandson John Glenn Rogers of Lewisville, TX, with one greatgrandson, granddaughter Donna Phillips Brooks of Roswell, NM with 3 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren, and granddaughter Heather Johnson Ortiz of Roswell, NM with 2 grandchildren. As well as extended family, Jean Brooks, Terry Lambert, Gary Riordan along with numerous nieces and nephews of Roswell, NM and Texas.

Funeral services will be held at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 am. Services will be performed by her soninlaw Mickey Click of Roswell, NM, and her great grandson Rev. Timothy Phillips of Andrews, TX along with a special message from Rev. Terry Warner.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Brooks, Timothy Phillips, Isaac Trujillo, Justin Phillips, Carl Lott II and Micah Click, alternate: Ben Aragon. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Riordan, Steve Brooks, Glen Brooks, Lee Lambert and Roger Heikes.
