Martha Jo Corn, 87, passed away peacefully at Mission Arch Care Center on Thursday, April, 21, 2016.
A lifelong Roswell resident, she was the daughter of L.A. and Willie Mae Watson Carson, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rodney D. Corn.
She was born February 26, 1929 at the old St. Mary's Hospital, and lived in Roswell her entire life. She grew up on a small farm east of East Grand Plains School, and graduated from Roswell High. She attended New Mexico State (then New Mexico A&M).
Martha Jo was very involved in the "Make it Yourself with Wool" contests and The Miss Wool pageants at both the State and National levels. She was head teller at the Plains Park Security National Bank drive-in and later became a New Accounts Clerk at Sunwest Bank for many years. She volunteered for the Roswell Assistance League, was a member of P.E.O, and later in life, worked as a substitute for the Roswell Schools.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she served numerous years on the Board of Directors and sang in the choir. She is survived by her son, Robert B. Corn, and wife Nancy; a granddaughter, Tawny Corn Garza; and numerous great grandchildren. Surviving her also are many beloved cousins from the Watson and Carson side of her family.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tina Cross of First United Methodist Church will be officiating. Private burial services will be at a later date.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at both Eastern New Mexico Medical Center and Mission Arch Care Center for the wonderful care given to Martha Jo.
