Marshall was born October 25, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Elmer Decker and Beatrice Brown who precede him in death. Also preceding him in death is his stepsister, Linda Brown and stepbrother, Hank Brown.
Marshall was a loving and caring husband to Marisela; to her he was the greatest man she ever knew and life will never be the same without him. Marshall was a fervent football fan, especially for his UNH Wildcats and New England Patriots. He was also a wrestling fan, coach and mentor to many. He lived life the way he wanted to and was a very generous person to his community and donated to many charities. Marshall took great pride in all his accomplishments and was owner of Cherry Decker Ranch where he established Real Estate in the Dexter Hagerman area.
Marshall went east with his family when he was seven years old, and lived at Methuen, Mass., until 1951 when they moved to Salem. He graduated from Woodbury High School in 1956, then from the University of New Hampshire in 1960. He studied law at Suffolk University and established an insurance business there. He turned to the electrical contracting field, and operated Decker Electric Company for four years.
He was an early and strong political supporter of Governor Meldrim Thomson Jr. in that official's efforts to turn the state into a more conservative direction and was the Fiscal Agent for the Governor in 1977 when his third bid for office was successful. At that time he was named Special Assistant to Governor Thomson in the Office of State Management Grant in New Hampshire.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 15 years, Marisela G. Decker; son, Timothy Chester Decker and daughter, Susan Ellen (by first wife, Charlotte Lundberg);sons, J. Christian Decker, Wesley C. Decker, and daughter Jennifer (by second wife, Judith Elaine Gillis). He was also survived by special nephew, Scott Decker, whom was like a son to Marshall; two brothers, Dave and Steve Decker and two half-brothers, Tom and Jeff Decker. Marshall will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
