Marie Barajas

Marie Barajas passed from this life on October 9, 2014 in Roswell, NM. Born on January 3, 1914 in Denning, Arkansas, She lived in Arkansas and Oklahoma during her early years. She married Frank Barajas August 26, 1931 in Dewey, Oklahoma. They lived in Dewey until moving to Ruidoso, NM in 1942.

A longtime resident of Ruidoso, Marie always worked and was loved and respected by her employers. The family also owned and operated Franks Taxi for several years. Because of Franks health they moved to Roswell in the early 1970s. In Roswell she worked for Dicky Davis at Quality Liquor for 35 years and thought of Dicky as another son. She retired in 2009 at age 95.

She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, brother and many brother and sisters in law.

Survivors include her children Helen and Aaron Woodfin of Ruidoso, Johnnie and Sharon Barajas of Roswell, Theresia Trotter of Ruidoso and Judy and Pat Willingham of Ruidoso. Also surviving her are ten grandchildren, twentyone great grandchildren, fifteen greatgreat grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family gives thanks to Gentiva Hospice of Roswell for the excellent and loving care they gave our Mother.

Thank you for giving us life for our wonderful years and for the memories we will always cherish. We love you Mama and we will see you again.

Funeral services will be at First Christian Church in Ruidoso at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 with Rev. Matt Every and Rev. Vern Edmondson of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
