Margaret Elaine Wakefield Teague
Margaret Elaine Wakefield Teague passed from this life Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She was born in Clovis, NM, August 14, 1947 to Milton E. Wakefield and Otero Pate Wakefield. She moved with the family to Roswell when the airbase at Clovis was closed. Her dad, a barber went to work at Walker Airforce Base at the barber shop.
Margaret started school at Missouri Avenue and graduated from Roswell High School in 1965. She attended Eastern New Mexico University graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in education and a brand-new certificate ready to teach. She started in Dexter then found a kindergarten position at Trinity United Methodist. That was her joy working with that age. Margaret ended up at Del Norte with her sister Diana Luck where she retired. She was active in Roswell Education Association working to improve the conditions and wages for teachers.
Margaret is survived by her son Jeffery Teague (Angel) of Santa Fe, NM; sisters Jane Darnell of Lubbock, TX, Sandra Payne (Douglas) of Denver City, TX and Diana Luck of Roswell; Dan Teague of Roswell, and special friend Dorothea Stone of Roswell. She is also survived by nieces and nephews who loving called her “Mamoo”. She was preceded in death by her parents Milton E. and Otero L. Wakefield and brother-in-law Bill Luck.
Margaret Elaine was greatly loved and has left an empty place in our hearts.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Laird Cross officiating.
