An evening prayer service will be held Sunday, December 26, 2010, at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel at 6:30PM, for Manuel Vasquez of Roswell. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00PM at the Ballard Chapel with Jose Munoz of the Rio Pecos Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Mr. Vasquez passed away Friday morning at his residence.
Manuel was born on July 20, 1942 in Openo, Chih. Mexico to Jesus and Beatrice Rodriguez Vasquez. His parents both have preceded him in death. On September 23, 1965, Manuel married Luz Medina in Juarez, Mexico. She survives him at the family home.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, Manuel is survived by daughter Lupe Loving and husband Theron and grandson Deric Loving. Also his beloved son and best friend Orlando Vasquez and Rene Vasquez, all of Roswell. A brother Gumaro Vasquez of CA, and sisters Virginia Castelio of Durango Chih. and Maria de Jesus Payan of CO. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Francisco and Jesus Vasquez and sister Aurelia Vasquez. Manuel is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Manuel was a mechanic and had resided in Roswell for 48 years. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He worked for Clardys Dairy, now the Oasis Dairy, Glover Packing Co., and Roswell Wrecking for many years until retiring in 2004. Manuel was an exceptional person and served all. He always smiled, had lots of charisma and always helped everyone. He would take the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He was a true cowboy at heart. Manuel always loved God and always did what was correct in Gods eyes. Many people depended on him and he always had faith in Gods word. One of his favorite scriptures was Revelation 21:34, and I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Manuel will be greatly missed by all.
