A rosary is scheduled for 7 pm, Sunday, June 1, 2014 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Manuel Alvarez Perez, 84, who passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones. A communion service by Deacon Ernesto Martinez of St. Johns Catholic Church is scheduled for 1 pm, Monday, June 2, 2014 also at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Manuel was born July 20, 1929 in Artesia, NM to Rafael V. Perez and Anita A. Perez. His parents preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Lupe A. Perez of Roswell son Joe L. Perez and partner Jim daughters Yolanda Archuleta and husband Bobby, Debra ODonnell and husband Richard, Loretta Mendoza and husband Billy and Grace Romero and husband Rick sisters Elia Olivas and Rachel Lopez twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Manuel was a lifelong resident of Roswell. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church where he was an usher all his life. Manuel was also a member of the Local Union 1245, Holy Name Society and Mens Club. He worked as a carpenter for Jordon Construction for many years. Manuel will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Those serving as pallbearers are grandsons Jacob Morales, Ricky Romero, Robert Archuleta, Billy Joe Mendoza, Joseph PerezMarchese, Jamison ODonnell, Steven PerezMarchese, Dominique Romero and Jeremy ODonnell. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Katrina Smith, Jasmine Ponce and Danielle Mendoza.
The family would like to give special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, Advanced Healthcare, Pecos Valley Rehab Center and Encompass Home Health for all the loving care they provided.
