Manuel Avila, age 87, passed away in his home on Sunday, August 18, 2019. In accordance to his wishes, we will not have a viewing. We will however, have a rosary service at 1:30 pm, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at St John’s Catholic Church followed by a mass and burial at South Park Cemetery.
Manuel was born May 13, 1932 in El Encinal Durango, Mexico to Fidel Avila and Arcadia Cazares. As many hard working Mexican men he followed the American dream and spent almost 60 years in the Roswell, NM area. He spent almost his whole life working in agriculture and until he retired in his 80’s he was still jumping on that tractor. Manuel touched so many lives. He was a generous and caring man that never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Manuel married twice from where he had a total of 5 children; Jose Manuel Avila, Alejandro Manuel Avila, Amparo Avila, Rosa Avila, and Sergio Avila; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and two caring daughter in laws Silvia Avila and Erica Avila. Manuel also had many God children and was a member of the Catholic Church St Johns.
He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and those who he touched so dearly. Although he has left he will always be remembered and will forever live in our memory.
Although you have left what feels like an emptiness, our hearts are not empty at all.
The memories that we get to hold on to will remain with us perpetually.
You gave us life and to honor your gift we vow to live, love, and laugh.
We vow to forgive and to cherish, but most of all we vow to live day by day
As if it were our last.
