A memorial service will be held for Mancel Montgomery, 59 of Roswell at 3:10 p.m., on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Midway Baptist Church with Bro Leo Pennington officiating. Mancel passed away, Sunday June 7, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Mancel was born June 7, 1950 in Roswell, NM to Calvin Montgomery and Imogene Higgins Montgomery. Both parents preceded him in death as did his sister Lydia Montgomery and brother James Gordon Montgomery, grandparents, Amos Higgins and Annie Cobb Higgins, and Tolbert Eriskin Montgomery and Lydia Montgomery.

Survivors include his brother, Johnny Montgomery and his wife Sandra of Roswell, Charles Montgomery and wife Leona of Roswell. Also surviving are three nieces Kimberly Henning and husband James of Staunton, Illinois, Sara Jane Montgomery and Ruby Pearl Montgomery of Roswell, one nephew, John Wesley Montgomery and wife Shelley of Roswell; his two great nieces: Alyssa Adams and Isabella Henning both of Staunton, Illinois; his two great nephews, Nicolas Henning of Staunton, Illinois, James Wesley Montgomery of Roswell and his special friends, Shelly Montgomery, Grandma and Grandpa Earick, Michelle Angie and Nick Whited, Rick Montoya, Ruby White, Connie McDonald, Brenda Corman, Charlotte and Alan Bagwell, Todd Housewright, Marc Romero and Officer Denise Sanford.
