Madie Felix Sansoucie, Age 89, went to be with his Lord on March 28, 2022. Madie was born on May 27, 1932 in DeSoto, Missouri to Benjamin Madie Sansoucie and Tina Luellea Parker Sansoucie. He was one of five sons and three daughters. Madie graduated from Boys Town High School. He enlisted in the US Airforce May 24, 1951 where he served until he retired on May 31, 1971 as a Technical Sergeant. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in 1974 and his Master’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1983.
In 1974, Madie was married to Eleanor Southworth Murphy and became the step-father to Christy and Mike Murphy. Both Madie and Eleanor were teachers in the Roswell Independent School District where Madie taught Industrial Arts at Mesa Middle School and Eleanor taught elementary school. After enjoying 20 years of marriage, Eleanor passed away in January of 1994 at the age of 56.
Madie then married Linda Margaret Spurlock on May 27, 1995. Madie became the step-father to Allison Spurlock. Linda passed away in January 1998.
Madie had many hobbies. He was active in a local bowling league as well as hunting waterfowl and turkey. He passed his love for hunting goose and crane on to Ginger and then on to Keith and Wade. Madie was very talented and would compete in bowling, archery, and air rifle in the Senior Olympics where he won many medals. He spent many hours in his shop, fletching arrows, woodworking and welding. Madie also had a love for dogs, he raised black Labradors in his later life. His special hunting friends were Velvet 2 and Abby.
Madie enjoyed dancing at the joy center in Roswell where he met and married his wife, Virginia Scoggin McCaw on June 16, 2001. He became the step-father to Jack and Kristin as well as grandfather to Dustin, Keith, Wade, Jake, David, Hannah and Michael. Madie had many family holiday get-togethers and enjoyed playing his favorite game, Chickenfoot. Madie and Ginger took the family on many fishing trips in the latter parts of their lives. Madie enjoyed these trips and loved driving the boat. Virginia went home to meet the Lord on February 20, 2022 after a battle with pneumonia.
Madie was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Tina Sansoucie; brothers Pete Sansoucie, Jim Sansoucie, and Bill Sansoucie; sister Keri Barton; wife Eleanor Sansoucie; wife Linda Sansousie and wife Virginia Sansoucie; grandson Dustin Sultemeier and son-in-law Allen Sultemeier.
Madie is survived by step children Christy Murphy of Chattanooga, TN; Mike Murphy of Dallas, TX; Allison Spurlock Morrison of Light, TX; Jack McCaw and wife Susanne of Alto; Kristin Sultemeier of Capitan; grandchildren Keith Sultemeier of Encino; Wade Sultemeier of Fort Sumner; Jacob McCaw and wife Kendra of Ruidoso; David McCaw of Alto; Hannah and Michael Herbst of Alto; Alexander and Aaron Morrison.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
