A private family service was held for Madeline Irene Barbe, 81, who passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at Casa Maria Healthcare Center.
Madeline was born November 4, 1934 in Roswell, NM to Edgar F. Ham and Bennie L. Fatheree. She is preceded in death by the love of her life Robert Barbe; her loving mother Bennie Lott and the love she had for her two fathers Jess Lott and Edgar Ham. Madeline will also be met in Heaven with her wonderful friend Melta.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Gary Barbe of Hagerman, NM and Greg Barbe of Roswell, NM; daughter Peggy Sue Summers of Montrose, CO; grandchildren Michael McDow of Anheim Hills, CA and William Barbe of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her two special sisters in God's love Sharon Caffall-Gallegos and Doris Pieratt; three wonderful sisters-in law Mary Lou Williams, Carmen Barbe and Sue Speir; Aunt Lottie Fatheree, Arlene and Sugen Nichols who helped take her to the doctors and a Randy Travis concert which she enjoyed immensely. Also, Gary's little dog Kashi who brought her much happiness and joy.
Madeline resided in Roswell and Hagerman all her life. She worked as a massage therapist to help people which she started doing after the passing of her husband. Madeline continued this even after retirement because she loved to do it. She traveled to Israel in 2008 so she could see where Jesus came from. Madeline was a wonderful housewife, mother and cook.
Madeline appreciated all the support from the Hagerman Municipal Scholl staff at the central office, the Principals of the high school, middle school and elementary school and all the other staff that always gave her son Gary the support, prayers and understanding. Gary would also like to thank Rance Miles, Alvaro Medrono, Tim Pollard and Ace Porter for their support, care and always offering to help out with anything needed. Also, Sharon Caffel-Gallegos with her being there during the crucial times and my special cousin Mary Kay who always there. A special thanks to Phillip and Patty Grassie who made a special trip back, and wouldn't take no for an answer, to read the scriptures and sing for mom. Hagerman Postmaster Town Hall ladies and staff at Pioneer Bank for their help and consideration. Also a special thank you to Sky Walters for his loving support, compassion and his many trips to Roswell during the past year. The staff at Casa Maria for their upmost respect and help. Her special friend Hope, who always made her smile and feel comfortable and to everyone who has been a help and a blessing. Also to Maxine Dennis for all her support and visits to the nursing home and to the staff at Ballard Funeral Home for their professional assistance during this difficult time.
Mom, Thank you for all your love, prayers, blessings and sacrifices you made for us. Thank you for the wonderful meals, clean home, the clean clothes and all the time you tried to teach us manners and right from wrong. Forgive us for all the worries, stress and sleepless nights we caused and for not always being there when you felt sad and lonely. Thank you for being a wonderful, caring and giving Mother. God bless you always, your sons Gary and Greg and daughter Peggy Sue.
