Mabel Ruby Montgomery
Mabel Ruby Montgomery, 100, passed away Friday evening on July 16, 2010, at her home. Ruby was born in Powell, Oklahoma on May 31, 1910 to George Hammons and Lauvenia Robinson whom preceded her death. She married Grady Montgomery on October 2, 1938 in Tipton, Oklahoma, who has preceded her in death. Her nephews, Carl Dean and Bruce Dean Hammons, have also preceded her in death.
Rubys surviving relatives are one brother, Dale Hammons and wife, Lue of Lovington, New Mexico one sister, Norma Savage and husband, Charley, of Roswell, New Mexico two nephews, Lynn Hammons of Lovington, New Mexico and Don Hammons of Austin, Texas two nieces, Larita Ongman of Merrell, Oregon and Wyoma Blodgett of Midland, Oregon.
Ruby was of the Baptist faith. Besides being a housewife and homemaker, Ruby worked as a seamstress making crafts, quilts, Christmas ornaments and crocheting as well. She was devoted to her dogs and loved them dearly.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Jessie Roberts, Martin Flores and Lorena for the understanding and compassionate care they gave Ruby.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
