Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, May 5, 2011at Church on the Move for Lydia Avila 68, who passed away Monday, May 2, 2011at her home. Pastor Savino Sanchez of Church on the Move will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Ballard Funeral Home.

Lydia was born July 11, 1942 in Bosque Bonito, Chihuahua, Mexico to Rodrigo and Catalina Cabrera Gutierrez. Her parents preceded her in death.

Lydia is survived by her sons, Valentin Avila and Greg Avila both of Roswell daughter, Rosella Avila of Roswell brothers, Roberto Gutierrez, Armando Gutierrez and Ernesto Gutierrez of Dexter sisters, Raquel Rede, Ofelia Montaez and Emma Sanchez of Roswell and grandchildren, Abrianna, Joseph, Angel, Robert, Xavier, Greg Jr., Lorenzo, Josh and Jacob Avila.

Lydia lived in Roswell for 60 years. She was of the Christian faith and a member of Church on the Move. She loved music and was a really good mother always taking care of her children. Lydia was very family oriented, she enjoyed cooking and being a housewife and caregiver.

Pallbearers will be Robert Avila, Angel Avila, Greg Avila, Lorenzo Avila, Oscar Montaez and Michael Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be Xavier Avila, Josh and Jacob Avila.
