A rosary is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dexter for Luis C. Contreras, 84, of Dexter who passed away April 18, 2010 at his home. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Immaculate Concepcion Church. Luis will be cremated according to his wishes.
Luis was born on June 25, 1925 in Sacatecas, Mexico to Juan Contreras and Rumalda Cordova Contreras. His parents have preceded him in death as well as his two brothers and one sister.
Luis married Maria Santo Gallegos Contreras on February 10, 1943 in Chihuahua, Mexico. His wife has preceded him in death.
Luis is survived by his son: Isidro Contreras of Dixon, CA his daughters: Amalia Holguin of El Paso, TX, Yolanda Velos of Hagerman, NM, Sandra Contreras of Dexter, NM, Maria Rosario Contreras Gallegos of Socorro, TX and Bethy Contreras of Artesia, NM as well as 23 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
Luis has lived in Dexter for 18 years moving here from El Paso, TX. He worked as a pipe layer. He was a member of Immaculate Concepcion Church.
