Lucilla Ortega

A rosary is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Peters Catholic Church for Lucilla Lucero Ortega, 84, who passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her home. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Charlie Martinez on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peters Catholic Church.

Lucilla was born on June 23, 1929 in Dexter, New Mexico to Martin Lucero and Hiliria Lozano Lucero, both have preceded her in death as well as her son Alex Ortega Jr., her brothers Frank Lucero, sisters Connie Ornelas and Susie Farmer, and her aunt Refugiel Cuca Gallegos, her mother in law Pilar Leaton, sister in law Concha Bilfado. Lucilla married Alex Ortega in 1950 they were married for 64 years. He survives her in the family home.

Those also left to cherish her memory are her sons Alfred Ortega, Rudy Ortega and his wife Kathy, daughter Diana Noriega and husband Louie. Grandchildren Melissa Jimenez and husband Daniel, Anthony Ortega and wife Melissa, Sonny Noriega and Adriana Noriega. Great greatgrandchildren Nathaniel Sanchez, Jericho Sanchez and one on the way, Emily Noriega, Joseph Noriega. Brothers Sammy Lucero and his wife Elvira of Roswell, New Mexico, Martin Lucero Jr. and his wife Rose May of Roswell, New Mexico, Jinio Lucero and companion Virginia of Portales, New Mexico and Ignacio Lucero and companion Nette Leos of Roswell, New Mexico. Sisters Bessie Perez and Margaret Lucero of Roswell, New Mexico. Also left to cherish her memory are lots of nieces and nephews that loved her very much.

Lucilla enjoyed Bingo and going to the casinos, sewing, quilting and making crafts, she also enjoyed cooking for her family and having a meal every day at 12:00 noon.

Those serving as pallbearers are Mario Zepeda, Johny Farmer, Anthony Ortega, Sammy Lucero Jr., Robert Farmer and Richard Aragon. Honorary pallbearers are Sonny Noriega, Marhia Beltron, Bobby Zepeda, Martin Lucero III, Lorenzo Sanchez, Laurie Lopez, Alex Sanchez, John Mathews and Andriana Noriega.
