Louie Hoekstra, 82 of Roswell, New Mexico went home peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, October 31, 2020.  Louie was the son of George and Grace Hoekstra.  Born on his family’s farm in Wirdum Friesland, the Netherlands on March 9, 1938.

Louie came to America in 1947 at the age of nine with his parents and five siblings.  Two more siblings were born in America.  Louie met the love of his life Neadie and they were married on April 21, 1961.  They were married 58 years.  Louie and Neadie were blessed with a son and three daughters.  He had twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  They raised their children on the dairy in Corona and Mira Loma, CA where they lived until 2000 when they moved to Roswell, NM to be closer to their kids.  Louie loved being a dairyman and was involved with the dairies for over 60 years.  He was a partner with his brother Ed and later with his son David.  Louie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dexter and he loved the Lord with all his heart.  He loved his family and loved spending time with each one of them.  Louie also loved old cars, fixing them up, and going to car shows was a hobby he always enjoyed.

Louie is survived by his son David Hoekstra (Sheri), his daughters Darla Breedyk (Arie), Doree Figueroa (Tim) and Daylene Gohres.  He is also survived by eleven grandkids, Ryan Breedyk (Morgan), Kristen Kamper (Larry), Aaron Breedyk (Rachel), Cherise Rainwater (Brady), Candise Crow (B.J.), Justin Breedyk (Shiloh), Cory Figueroa (Breanne), Katelyn Krakauskas (Mitch), Arielle Breedyk, Courtney Gohres and Chase Gohres.  He is also known as Pake to his sixteen great grandchildren.  Louie is also survived by one brother Peir Hoekstra (Debbie), and three sisters Agnes Koetsier, Clara Groot (John), Wilma VanDam (Don) and two dear sisters-in-law Margie Hoekstra and Jean Hammett.  Louie will be missed by so many.  He was preceded in death by his wife Neadie, parents George and Grace Hoekstra, his brothers Ed and George Hoekstra, his sister Jennie DeBoer and his grandson Cole Gohres.

Visitation will be held from 4:30pm to 6:00pm, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Ballard Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 9:30am, Friday, November 6, 2020 at South Park Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Dexter with Pastor Stephen Deutsch officiating.

Those honored to be his pallbearers are Louie’s grandsons.
