Lola M. Evans passed away on November 8, 2015 tended for by her loved ones til the end. She and her twin sister were born April 29, 1931 near Westville, Oklahoma to Louis and Mamie Hardage. The family moved to Roswell and most of her life was spent here.
She graduated from Roswell High School in 1949 and immediately went to work as secretary to Gen. Milton at NMML She later worked for Mobile Oil and after that became legal secretary to Attorney Brian Copple for more than 25 years.
She married William H. (Shorty) Evans on May 11, 1951 and he passed away in 2000. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Lenora Rogers and two nieces and a nephew.
She is survived by her two sons - Hal Evans and wife Cindy of Edmond, OK and Mark Evans of Las Cruces, NM. Also by her sisters Leola McLemore (twin), Lois Brown, Levena Dean and husband Daniel, all of Roswell and Lila Stevens and Linda Schnaible of Las Cruces, NM along with their extended families. Also grandchildren Tyler Evans, Amanda and Val Evans-Baca, Audra Veazey, Adrian Savedra and wife Tara and their two sons A. J. and Arman and Allison Savedra and her daughter Luxy Maven.
Lola loved to read and was a regular patron of the Library even after a stroke left her vision somewhat impaired. She and her sisters loved getting together to go places and meeting at Ruidoso on birthdays to enjoy a leisurely lunch and do a little gambling.
Family will plan a later date to gather for interment of ashes at South Park Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
