Lois Baker
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2008 at San Jon Cemetery in San Jon for Lois Baker, 89, of Roswell who passed away March 4, 2008 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Rev. Archie Echols of First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Lois was born on January 3, 1919 in Forrest, New Mexico to Ludvil Eppa Hunton and Ethel Murdick Hunton. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as two sons: Andy Bruce Baker and Roger Nile Baker; by five brothers: Paul Hunton, J.W. Hunton, L.E. Hunton, Esten Hunton, Carroll Hunton; as well as two sisters: Velma James, Mozelle Nance.
Lois married Nile L. Baker on June 15, 1941 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Her husband survives her at the family home.
Lois is also survived by her son: Randy Baker of Indiana; her daughter: Ginger Gwartney and her husband Bruce of Roswell; her brother: Wayne Hunton of Clovis, New Mexico; and her grandchildren: Katie Beth Gwartney, Ty Gwartney, Micah Baker and Hannah Baker.
Lois taught school from 1941 to 1977. She most recently worked for the Las Cruces Public School district. She was an active member in the First United Methodist Women in Clovis and Las Cruces and a member of the National Education Association.
The family requests a special thanks to all of the care givers that took care of Lois.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lois name to the First United Methodist Cowboy Bell Scholarship Fund or the First United Methodist Music Memorial Fund.
