Lincoln Lynn Ridgway

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at South Park Cemetery for Lincoln Lynn Ridgway, 56 of Las Cruces, NM. Lincoln passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at a Las Cruces hospital after a recent battle with cancer. Rev. Danny Sons of Midway Assembly of God will officiate. Roswell Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services. Lincoln was born on December 8, 1952 in Roswell, NM to Edward Curly Ridgway and Dorthy Beason Ridgway. They both preceded him in death; as well as his grandparents; Tom and Gladys Ridgway, C.D. and Nettie Beason, uncles; Forest, Tommy and Roy Ridgway, and Junior Metcalf.

He served his country in the United States Army for 4 years, and of those; 2 years were in Germany. Afterward he worked as a refrigeration engineer for 35 years with the New Mexico White Sands Missile Range. He drove St. Augustine Pass faithfully until his retiring 2 years ago. He hardly missed a sick day. His passion in life was hunting, fishing, and dancing. He loved to hang out with his grandson Don, that was his buddy. He was proud of his daughters. He loved to collect brass, but not clean it; he had hundreds of pieces all shapes and s.

He is survived by his daughters; Krissy Lin Ridgway and fiance Dan Estenson of Las Cruces, NM, Megan Lin Middleton and her husband Derrick of Rome, GA, and Brandy Walsh of Tempe, AZ, son; Scott Akemon and his wife Jennifer of Rome, GA, grandchildren; Dominick Rios of Las Cruces, NM, Pearce Walsh of Tempe, AZ, Lauren and Caitlyn Akemon of Rome, GA. Other survivors include his sisters; Cindy Garcia and her husband Armando of Scottsdale, AZ, Jerrie Ann McClain and her husband Paul of Roswell, and Lanese McKoen of Klamaph Fall, OR, brothers; Floyd Ridgway and his wife Judy of Las Cruces, Eddie Ridgway of Albuquerque, NM, aunts; Nancy Metcalf of Roswell, and Martha Ridgway of Modesto, CA, his companion and friend; Annie Byman of Las Cruces, his special friends Mr. and Mrs. Narciso Valdez of Las Cruces, his former wife and friend and mother of his daughters Pat Ridgway of Rome, GA.

Pallbearers will be Forest Metcalf, Heath Metcalf, Jerry Metcalf, Jay McClain, Andrew Ward, Dan Estenson, Derrick Middleton and Scott Akemon. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul McClain and Narciso Valdez.

Family will be receiving friends at 108 S. Washington Ave. in Roswell.

My Lil Brother,

He was such a kind and loving brother. He would give you the shirt off his back. If he loved you he would tell you, if he didnt like you he would tell you. He was very outspoken. He became ill and shared many phone calls sometimes several times a day, morning and late night. Some were very loving some ornery, the loving you could feel the hugs and love coming through the phone, those Im going to miss so much. Lil brother I know how much you love me and you know how much I love you. We have a special bond with each other and a special love no one can ever take away. For several months you have been saying you wanted to be in heaven with daddy; well now you are, and no more pain or doctors, just peace and happiness.
