Leona Mae Hamilton

Leona Mae Hamilton age 89, a life long resident of Roswell, went home to be with her Lord on July 17, 2009. Leona was born on January 8, 1920 in Roswell to Thomas Earl and Rhoda Elam who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, a son: Kenneth Wayne Hamilton, three brothers: George, Harold, and Aubrey Elam.

Leona is survived by her husband of 71 years, Claude, one son, Allan, a daughter, Kathy Christie, and her husband Gene, daughter-in-law, Joellen Hamilton, sister; Nina Perry and her husband John. Seven grandchildren; C.W. Hamilton and wife Shawna, Vonna Ward, April Hollingsworth and husband Josh, Matthew Valquardsen and wife Tish, Edie Cooksey and husband David, Melissa Beene and husband Porter, and Shannon Christie. Fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and four sister-in-laws.

Leona was a born again Christian and loved her Lord and Savior very much. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a faithful servant and taught Sunday school for over 50 years and helped any way that she could with other services for the church.

Leona was a home maker and raised her children to love and be faithful to God. We as her children praise her for her testimony and feel that because of our parents faith fullness to God, we will all be in Heaven together someday.

Services will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m... The Reverends Onsy Whicker and Geary Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Ballard Funeral Chapel, Monday evening July 20, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be C.W. Hamilton, Christopher Hamilton, Matthew Valquardsen, Porter Beene, Garrett Beene and David Cooksey. Honorary pallbearers are Harrison Hamilton, Nicholas Valquardsen and Conner Cooksey.
