A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at South Park Cemetery at 11:00 AM for Lawrence Dean Pete DeBorde, 86, who passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Casa Maria Health Care Center. Father Charlie Martinez will officiate. Pete was born March 1, 1928 to William Andrew Deborde and Ruth Chewning DeBorde in Roswell, NM. Both have preceded him in death. His brother James DeBorde, sisters Lois Green, Louise Fletcher, Mary K. Bonhan and Betty Fuller also preceded him in death.
Pete served his country aboard the Navy aircraft carrier the USS Princeton. After returning home Pete went to work for Sacra Brothers Gas CompanyArrow Gas Company. He always tried to broaden his horizon, constantly learning new things. Always being interested with ranch and cattle life, he worked with Schrimsher Brothers Feed Mill and later on with White Feed Mills his last stint of employment before retiring was with Wakefield Oil Company. Pete was involved with an organization that meant the world to him it was the East Grand Plains Lions Club, he along with his partners in crime cooked BBQs for many years for the people of Roswell. After the Lions Club he was a chef for his family reunions that meant so much to him. Each yearly event was a work of art and loved by all. In the last view years of his life, Pete was blessed and assisted by his nephew Chuck Green and his wife Shonda. Within the last year Pete was assisted by his son David and grandson Dominic, a blessing for all of them whether it was cooking or his wonderful gardening adventures. The bound formed by between is one that will never be broken.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary DeBorde of Roswell, NM, his son David DeBorde of Roswell, NM, his brother Bob DeBorde and wife Georgette of Montana, sisters Helen Luff and husband Glen of Midland, TX, Cindy Jindrich and husband Tom of Washington, Molly Warren and Bill Carson of Frederiksberg, PA, grandson Dominic DeBorde of Roswell, NM, granddaughter Stephanie Annette DeBorde of Colorado Springs, CO and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Ron Woods, Joe Archibald, Tom DeBorde, Chuck Green, Daniel Matta and Larry Rowlett.
