Laquita Brown

July 8, 1937 — June 24, 2015

Lifetime resident, Laquita Brown, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Los Lunas, New Mexico, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
Laquita Brown was born on July 8, 1937, in Hagerman, New Mexico, to Roland Frazier and Orenta Wallace Frazier.

A faithful Christian, a loving and dedicated mother, and a loyal friend, Laquita will be truly missed. Her deep joy and her creative talent will be remembered forever by her children.
Laquita grew up on a cotton farm. She was a hard worker. Laquita still has many friends from her school days in Dexter. She took pride in her five children and spent hours sewing clothes for them. Laquita made beautiful quilts which her children and grandchildren continue to cherish. She was also a talented artist and her creations hang on the walls of their homes.

Laquita worked long hours to support her five children. She always exceeded her quotas at Levi Strauss. She drove a school bus for Pollard Bus Company. After 25 years of dedicated service at AmeriPride Linen Services, she retired in 2002.

Laquita was always happy; she always had a smile on her face. She loved her church family at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Laquita was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. She insisted that the Dallas Cowboys Stadium was built with a hole in the roof so that God could watch the Cowboys play.

Laquita was preceded in death by her father, Roland Frazier; her mother, Orenta (Rit) Frazier; brother, Hugh (Sonny) Frazier; brother, Lindell Frazier; first-born grandchild, Jennifer Suzane Estep. Survivors include her brother, Marvis Frazier, and wife Barbara; and her sister, Romelda Burch. Those left to carry on Laquita's legacy are her five children: Diane Estep and her husband, Bob; Sherry Mumford and her husband, Tracy; Freda Casias and her husband, Ernie; Alton Richardson and his wife, Paula; Larry Richardson and his wife, Diane. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Christopher Tafoya, Salena Aragon, Samuel Clark, and Lindsey Docekal. Laquita was blessed with nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Laquita's life will be officiated by Reverend Joseph Tillery at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 30, at 10:00 a.m.
