Kenneth Presley Primrose passed away on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at home in Roswell, NM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM February 10, 2017 in Roswell at the First United Methodist Church.
Kenneth was born to Nugent and Leona Primrose in Logan, NM on April 14, 1928. He retired in Roswell in 1985 after 37 years working for the U.S. Postal Service.
Kenneth received his appointment in the U.S. Postal Service in October of 1948 as a substitute carrier in the Tucumcari Post Office. He served two years as a carrier and then transferred to the clerk craft. He was appointed Superintendent of Mails at Tucumcari in 1966 and in 1970 was promoted to the position of Assistant Postmaster.
In 1974 Kenneth received another promotion to the position of MSC Manager/Postmaster at the Las Vegas, NM Management Sectional Center. In January o 1975 he was detailed to the Albuquerque District office as District Director Customer Services for a period of 90 days.
After the consolidation of Las Vegas and Roswell Management Sectional Centers he was appointed MSC Manager/Postmaster of the Roswell MSC.
Before relocation to Roswell he was involved in numerous community activities. He was President of the Rotary Club, President of the Las Vegas Hospital Board of Trustees, and Chairman of the Official Board of the United Methodist Church. He is also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Kenneth enjoys fishing, golfing and square dancing during the spare time he has available. After retirement he got interested in wood carving and became an instructor at Roswell Adult Center for five years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Roswell. As his children were growing up he was active in coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and Kenneth and Jean were sponsors of Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF). They were always willing to take the kids to the lake, mountains or any other youth activities.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years Jean Primrose, three son's Kenneth W. and wife Jayne of John Day, OR, Richard Primrose and wife Nancy of Tucumcari, NM and Darrell and wife Lucinda of Twin Lakes, WI. Also surviving Kenneth is four granddaughters (Kristen/Billy, Heather/Chris, Lauren and Taylor), one grandson (Michael), one sister Florence Osborn of Amarillo and two great granddaughters Morgan and Layla. His brother Duke Primrose preceded him in death. He also has several other surviving relatives.
