Kathy Jo (Grady) Brown
Kathy Jo (Grady) Brown, age 70, passed away January 28, 2021 at Mission Arch Care Center after a long battle with cancer. Kathy Jo was born in Hobart, Oklahoma, September 13, 1950 to Joan (Flurry) Grady and Tom Grady Jr.
The family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Kathy Jo attended Del Norte High School, graduating in 1968.
She moved to Roswell, New Mexico in 1968 to attend ENMU-R and returned to Albuquerque in 1976 and started working in banking. She moved back to Roswell in 1981 and worked for Furr’s/Save ’N' Gain. In 1989, she married David Brown and the couple lived in Roswell until they moved to the Washington D.C. area with the military. In 2004, David and Kathy Jo moved back to Roswell to be with family. While in Roswell, Kathy Jo was active with the Home Garden Club where she held numerous positions. If you were fortunate enough to know Kathy Jo, and have her call you a friend, you were a friend for life. She loved her friends, but even more than that she loved her family with all of her heart. Kathy Jo had a strong faith in her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Kathy Jo was preceded in death by her daughter Shana Lee, her parents, and her Grandson, Dylan Davis. She is survived by her husband, David B. Brown, her son Jason Forrester (Paddy) and her daughter Shelly Forrester.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler (Makenzi) Forrester, Jack T. Forrester, Kimberly (Eli) Wortman, Travis D. Fuller, and Shana Marling, and three great grandchildren: Houston Wyatt and Kasen Dylan Wortman and Hadleigh Forrester. Her brother, Randy (Julie) Grady, uncle Al Grady, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews. Kathy Jo also had numerous friends throughout the United States.
Special thanks to the ER staff at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, the ICU staff at Mountain View Medical Center in Las Cruces, Dr. Araujo and staff at Kymera Cancer Center and the Staff at Mission Arch Care Center. Thank you also to personnel at Ballard Funeral Home for the professional and compassionate assistance provided during this time.
SERVICES: A small memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the General Douglas McBride Veterans Cemetery in Roswell, New Mexico.
