Kathryn Stephens Rumbaugh
July 12, 1931 - October 8, 2018
Our beloved Kathryn Stephens Rumbaugh left this world on October 8, 2018. She was surrounded by the love of her sister and her four daughters.
Kathy was active in the medical community, serving as the Executive Secretary of the Chaves County Medical Society for over 40 years. She was a Certified Medical Assistant and was the Office Manager for Roswell Anesthesia Associates. She started working for Dr. Morton Dann in the early 1960s.
Fanny Fillmore, Dr. Kuth, and Fajita Margarita were some of Kathy's favorite personas as she entertained audiences with her quick wit and wonderful humor. She was frequently asked to speak at dinners honoring local physicians and was always eager to roast them as well. To say she was entertaining is an understatement.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benton Rumbaugh, her son, David Rumbaugh, and her grandson, Jeremy Rumbaugh. Her father and mother, Kate and Tillman Stephens, her sisters, Mary and Dorothy, and her brothers, J.T., Luther, and Steve also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Pat Bush, and her daughters, Cheryl Rumbaugh, Beth Burroughs, Rebecca Bowman and Lauri Foster. Kathy's eight grandchildren Daniel Rumbaugh, Charles Archie, Meredith Entrop, Stefanie Gannon, Idena Burke, Stacie Long, Beau Burroughs, Erica Entrop, Faith Sosa, and fifteen great-grandchildren survive her. All of these lives have been shaped by Kathy's presence in their life and she continues to be in this world through them.
Kathy was full of joy, compassion, and encouragement. Every life she touched was blessed. Her constant optimism and love of life were contagious. She was a resident at Avamere where she made many wonderful friends. She could frequently be found at the jigsaw puzzle table where there was always an open chair and a welcoming smile. Her wit and wisdom guided her tribe through the challenges of life. Her spiritual guidance brought light, love, and life into our world. She will be missed.
