Katherine Jane Lucero

Katherine was born May 17, 1956, in Roswell to Gliserio Lucero and Beatrice Dominquez Lucero and lived there until 1999 when she moved to Portales to pursue her education at Eastern New Mexico University. Here she found her liking to clay work, creating sculptures, cups, and many bowls. She worked as a cosmetologist and loved the art of hair. She had big plans for enhancing her craft.

Katherine is preceded in death by her mother and father who she cared for during their time of need. Many would describe her as selfless. She was very full of love and enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren. Those who met her were drawn to her kind heart and strong will. Her memory will be kept alive through those who loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Jaimito Herrera of Lubbock, TX, Thurston Herrera Herrera and Elmon Herrera III of Portales, NM; daughters Adrienne Gustamantes (Levi) of Roswell, Felicia Herrera and Dianna Herrera of Portales, NM. and eight grandchildren.

Those that were to serve as pallbearers were Jaimito Herrera, Thurston Herrera, Elmon Herrera, Gustavo Herrera, Levi Gustamantes and Joey Gomez. Honorary pallbearers were Adrienne Gustamantes Felicia Herrera, Dianna Herrera, Ileana Herrera, Olivia Lechuga, Jayla Gomez, Tristen Gustamantes and Ski Herrera.
