J.W. Zedlitz went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ January 22, 2018. He was 86 years old.
J.W. was born July 18, 1931 to John and Edna Zedlitz in Gaufe Texas. He was the first of five children. He was married to Betty Chumley-Crone March 27, 1959. They were married 59 years.
He was proud to serve his country in the US Army in the Korean War. He was a fireman for the City of Roswell for 10 years. He lived most of his life in the Roswell area but decided at 62 to move to Alaska, where he lived for 24 years before recently moving back to Roswell.
He loved reading, especially the Bible and quoting Bible verses. He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing with his family.
J.W. is survived by his wife Betty; step-daughter Karen Bentz and Ed; step-son Darvin Crone and his longtime companion Terry Best, all of Roswell; sister's Helen Bradberry, Mary Jo Christenot and Annie Zedlitz of Windyville Missouri; granddaughter DeAndra Salazar and Jimmy; great grandsons Isaiah, Eli and Noah of Honolulu, HI; grandson Bryan Stevens of South Sioux City, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Edna Zedlitz; brothers Ray and Richard Zedlitz.
Graveside services were held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at South Park Cemetery.
